Mary-Catherine Pazzano (she/her)
Artistic Director

As a concert vocalist, recording artist, choral director, and voice teacher, Mary-Catherine Pazzano lives a varied and busy artistic life! With a voice that spans opera to jazz, her concert career has taken her across North America and as far as New Zealand. Classically, she has performed debuts in NYC off-Broadway and Indiana, as well as many Ontario appearances. As a jazz singer, her voice has graced the stage of Birdland in NYC, as well as Jazz Bistro and The Rex in Toronto, the Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival, and many appearances locally at The Jazz Room and The Registry Theatre.

In demand as a choral director, she is Artistic Director of Age of Majority Singers and Noteworthy Singers. She is also Music Director at Knox Church, Waterloo. She continues to maintain a sought-after voice studio.

In addition to her classical and freelance recordings, Mary-Catherine has released two vocal jazz albums as leader. “You’re Gonna Hear From Me” was released on the label Glorious Feeling Records and was deemed “an excellent debut” (Jazz historian Scott Yanow) and a “gorgeous opening salvo” (WholeNote Magazine). Her second album, the “vocally flawless” (Take Effect Reviews) “Christmas: Live at The Jazz Room”, was released in November 2022. Both albums have received international radio airplay, including CBC and JazzFM here in Canada.

Jack Wyndham (he/him)
Accompanist

​Jack Wyndham is a local pianist and recording artist with an active online presence. He has recorded several albums of solo piano music that cover all bases from pop, to classical, to jazz, and original compositions.

​When Jack is not in the practice room, he can be found teaching students at the Kitchener Academy of Music, or educating folks all over the world through online video calls. Jack has played for groups including Eastwood Collegiate's Concert Choir, Preston Mennonite Church, The Royal City Big Band, Penny and Pound Theatre Company, The Cambridge Symphony, The Noteworthy Singers and The Waterloo Region Police Chorus.

History

AOMS was formed in January 2013. Educators Nancy Kidd and Terry English recognized that there were limited choir opportunities for young adults at the post-secondary level. This led them to envision the creation of AOMS.

AOMS started as a program of the Lyrical Lines Education Network (LLEN), which provides opportunities that enhance and advance musical knowledge and ability in our community.

Since 2013, AOMS has shared the stage with world-class musicians including; Joni NehRita, Kevin Ramessar, Wellington Winds, The Penderecki String Quartet and The Tenors.

Age of Majority Singers welcomes singers 18+.

Board of Directors

The AOMS Board of Directors meets monthly to govern the choir. This group of volunteers is responsible for the behind the scenes operations that help make the choir a unique and rewarding experience. The board is elected for one year terms by choir members at our Annual General Meeting.
