Accompanist Julie ArmesJulie Armes maintains a busy piano studio in Kitchener, where she loves helping students of all ages “connect the dots,” understanding the building blocks of music so they can easily learn new music and be creative in making their own music. She is active as an accompanist and occasional song leader at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, and accompanist for Fireside Voices. When she’s not involved in music-making, she enjoys planning social events with her neighbours.

History
AOMS was formed in January 2013. Educators Nancy Kidd and Terry English recognized that there were limited choral opportunities for young adults at the post-secondary level. This led them to envision the creation of a community-based choir.
AOMS started as a program of the Lyrical Lines Education Network (LLEN), which provides opportunities that enhance and advance musical knowledge and ability in our community.
Nancy Kidd served as the original artistic director for AOMS until 2018. Age of Majority Singers welcomes all singers 18+.

Who Are We?
AOMS is a community choir devoted to creating a welcoming and accessible space for young adults to find and share their joy of music. Our work is driven by the values of Inclusivity, Commitment, and Community which are reflected in our artistic approach to both rehearsals and public performances.
Dedicated to excellence, we strive to cultivate and nurture a space where singers can fully experience and express the connection, hope, and vulnerability music can engender. Our artistic programming is inspired and centered upon themes of social justice, anti-racism and reconciliation. We continue to humbly learn and shape an equitable space of belonging.
